Can’t help but notice the success of recent movies based on Marvel comic book characters.

Particularly the most recent of these – the Avengers movie but also the earlier two Iron Man movies and the Thor and CaptainAmerica movies to mention a few others. The Hulk movies didn’t seem to go that well.

I guess someone there at Disney and Marvel must be doing things right.  Weren’t Marvel going broke a while back?

With Marvel icons Thor, the Hulk, Iron Man, and CaptainAmerica all in the same movie. With a director of the calibre of Joss Whedon and with the huge build up to the movie, I guess the early success of the Avengers movie should be no surprise to anyone.

I started reading Marvel comics back in the very early 1960’s when Marvel introduced, inter alia, the Fantastic Four, Marvel Thor (the Thor from Norse mythology having been around a bit longer) and the Hulk.  With the Avengers comic starting in 1963. So it’s a delight to be able to see these characters on the big screen. Finally.

I also started my writing with fan fiction stories of Marvel characters (particularly Thor):  http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1276881/David_Scholes

Not sure if the super hero movie bubble will burst somewhere along the way but I suspect not for a while yet, at least. I note that Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2 are all somewhere in the pipeline.

Seems a pretty good time to be a Marvel fan.

Cheers
